L’insegnamento biblico è che ogni credente deve riconoscere che neanche il suo corpo appartiene a lui, ma a Dio, e che tutto ciò che ha gli è stato donato da Dio. Di conseguenza, il suo corpo e ciò che esso rende o può procurare, con il lavoro delle sue mani e con la sua mente, i soldi e i beni che ha, sono tutti proprietà di Dio. Il credente ne è soltanto il curatore, il custode, l’amministratore, incaricato da Dio a usare, spendere, impiegare ciò che appartiene a Dio per la sua gloria.

Allora, è possibile credere che l’insegnamento di Gesù, di non avere ansia per il domani, significhi che puoi spendere oggi tutto quello che hai, per comprare tutto ciò che vuoi? Intanto, al domani ci penserà Dio. Assolutamente no!

L’apostolo Pietro ha insegnato che il credente non deve spendere per apparire o per orgoglio: “Il vostro ornamento non sia l’esteriore… mettersi intorno dei gioielli d’oro o indossare vesti sontuose… ma l’ornamento incorruttibile dello spirito benigno e pacifico” (1 Pietro 3:3,4).

L’apostolo Giovanni avverte di non lavorare per accumulare dei beni solo per la propria soddisfazione: “Tutto quello che è del mondo: la concupiscenza della carne, la concupiscenza degli occhi e la superbia della vita non è dal Padre, ma e dal mondo” (1 Giovanni 2:16). Queste “concupiscenze” potrebbero riguardare spese per vestiti, gioielli, orologi, macchine fotografiche, telefonini e tante altre cose che si comprano per il proprio piacere e non per bisogno.

L’apostolo Paolo ha anche insegnato il principio del risparmio, cioè del mettere via una parte dei propri soldi per un motivo sano: Perché i fratelli potessero mandare dei soldi per aiutare altri fratelli in bisogno, egli scrisse: “Ogni primo giorno della settimana ciascun di voi metta da parte a casa quel che potrà secondo la prosperità concessagli” (1 Corinzi 16:2). Così i credenti potevano programmare le donazioni necessarie per aiutare i fratelli in bisogno e non reagire solo emotivamente senza pensarci.

Da questi tre principi, vediamo che Gesù non ha mai voluto insegnare a spendere e spandere oggi, senza pensare al domani, credendo di ubbidire in questo modo al comando di Gesù.

Mi domando se cercare di risparmiare sulle spese, e mettere via dei soldi sia giusto per un credente. Se stai sempre a pensare al futuro con paura, non sembra un segno di poca fede? Tu, what do you think?
