SUBJECT: Safety school environment
In these first months of school we noticed that driveway to the gate via paid-up at the entrance and exit of students is not only open partially, thus allowing an orderly flow, but they favor the generation of a crowd.
While I understand the intention to prevent the entry of private vehicles at the hour of entry and exit, however, this creates a significant barrier to exit regular flow of students resulting in a huddle and, in case of panic, serious risk to the safety of the students themselves.
The risk situation is aggravated by the presence of two-wheeled vehicles are often carried out without the necessary attention and care.
In order to give a quantitative definition of problem, please note that the current fire safety standards require that an outflow from a crowded place where the school yard is made safe if you have at least 60 cm section of the transit passage of every 50 people (discharge form). Assuming therefore a maximum flow path towards paid-up of 400-500 people, you may experience the need for a section of free transit to
(400/50) ∘ 60 cm = 4.8 m minimum.
The section currently available is currently far below the minimum considered safe.
