"Blessed ..." But, we are saints? Sitting by mistake
Ignorance sends astray
It is no secret that the words a bit 'old-fashioned and a little' greasy, and too religious Beguine "send us all into a tailspin.
When you call the old "good boy" or saying that you were just a "good girl" maybe you were the desire to escape, or, as others say, throwing up ... do not want to be put in the category of good ... children, which is like saying "dumb."
Perhaps we'd like ... and preferred to be called smart, quick, lively, or better yet, uncontrollable!
If the author of the first psalm had written: " Furbo is the man who can not walk ... awake who never stops ... straight who does not sit down .. "(See the last post for the explanation of these sentences), there would be sorry be included among those people.
But to call a person who knows her and can not be deceived "blessed" scares everybody. In our day, who wants to be "blessed"? Only John Paul II. But he does it "saint now!"
Then, the word "blessed" you do not like. Some Bible translators have decided to use the word "happy" instead of "blessed", because the meaning of the word is more or less the same. But it is difficult to translate a single word, and then understand what the writer meant.
In fact, we did not want to say what we mean when we write "Happy the man who knows how to love. " Sure, it's true, but it says it all.
In a culture where almost everyone believed in God, say that God approved and blessed a person was a big compliment, it was the best. And then say that people admire a certain person, because it was obviously blessed by God, it was another beautiful compliment. And these phrases were, in fact, what you wanted to know when it was called "blessed" a person.
At the time of King David, calling a person "blessed" was a compliment field, but more than a compliment, it was a very positive view on someone, on his personality and his conduct.
So, to quote David, you must understand the importance of the three NOT the first verse of the first psalm, without being a dupe and deceive. Avoid the people passing the time to show how God despises and who wants to live in harmony and agreement with him then you'll find that your life is well described by the word "blessed." You can not ask for more or better.
Certainly, your false friends can make fun, they can say you are ignorant and brain washed, you do not know, enjoying life and never reach anything beautiful and good. But what do you care? For you, being described by those who know you and admire you with the word "blessed" is worth a thousand friends or relatives of the approval of non-believers.
And, moreover, does not stop there! In the second verse of the first psalm, the news is even better. We'll see next week.
